Welcome to the Washington County Local Emergency Planning Committee, "Safety in Knowledge" Web site. As a branch of Emergency Management, the LEPC is very active and one of the top organizations in Maryland with its duties as an information source for the county. Although rare, there always remains a slim chance that a chemical emergency might occur in our community despite the extraordinary precautions that have been taken by the chemical and transportation industries.
Our Mission: With the safety of the public in mind, a coalition of respective government, the chemical industry, public and private agencies have voluntarily prepared and tested a working plan for any such emergency. Knowledge of how to respond safely and appropriately on the part of everyone who may become involved, greatly lessons the chance of injury and brings peace of mind to all. It is in this vein, that this information has been posted to our own Web Site and will be updated on a regular basis to inform you, the citizens of Washington County, MD.Contact Information:For more information, contact the Local Emergency Planning Committee.NEW: Telephone: 240-313-2930 Fax: 240-313-2901Address: County Office Building - 33 W.
